Teaming Up is a project dedicated to improving maternal health, specifically in developing countries, by establishing sustainable partnerships between college athletic teams and women at high risk of dying in childbirth. It is partnered with UbuMama, an arts based program, to raise awareness and funding for grass-roots education and community action on behalf of safe motherhood.

According to a report released by the World Health Organization in 2005 over 300 million women in the developing world suffer from conditions brought on by pregnancy and childbirth which are largely preventable and treatable. The tremendous disparity between maternal health resources in the developing world and other nations is one of the most pressing and overlooked health issues today.

In the year 2000 the United Nations launched a fifteen year plan to achieve eight Millennium Development Goals, the fifth being to reduce maternal mortality by 75%. Teaming Up seeks to hold the world accountable for meeting these goals through mobilizing our collegiate youth with the intent to empower, educate and save women around the world.
